blog-dec-19As the year draws to a close most everyone is spending some quality time with their loved ones  and thinking about the year ahead. Real estate agent and business owners know better than anyone else that setting goals and having a game plan to reach those goals goes hand in hand. To help you get started with your game plan for next year, check out these four points:

1) Be Specific

Your vision is everything when it comes to planning. Decide where you want your focus to go in 2015. Choose 3-5 big goals and 3-5 smaller goals that you want to accomplish. The big goals are long term objectives such as saving a certain amount of money or buying a certain item that you consider a bigger purchase. The big goals represent a vision for your future and thinking about them throughout the year can keep you on track. The smaller goals are about daily improvements you want to make. Things like going to the gym, calling an x amount of prospects each day or going to x number of self-improvement seminars though out the year.

2) Write It Down

In such a high-tech world, sometimes a pen and paper sound outdated but research indicates that there is a high correlation between writing down goals and achieving them.  Write down the number that you are going for. Whether it be, prospecting x number of people a day or closing x number of deals in a month. Whatever you want to achieve, identify the threshold that you desire to achieve.

3) Designate Benchmarks

Ideally, you want to reflect on your progress a little every day but life gets busy and that is not the most realistic idea. Instead, set up a meeting with yourself for every 90 days. Set up all the meeting reminders at once in the beginning of the year so they are locked into you calendar. The point of this is to review what you have achieved, where you lagging behind and what steps you need to take to get back on track.

4) Celebrate the Small Wins

The daily grind of business is tough and it is easy to get overwhelmed. Share good news of your achievements with the people in your life. You can take a colleague out for lunch or even write an informative blog on your website sharing what has worked for you and what hasn’t.  My guess is that you will end up inspiring people in your life to reach for higher too.

Bonus:

Executing your killer game plan for 2015 has a lot to do with your overall energy level and your morning routine has a lot to do with that. So check out this video on How to Get Up Early by author Robin Sharma. Ever since I watched it and joined the “5am Club”, I have seen great progress in my own life. I’m hoping the same for you:)
