As most of our Calgary clients know, the Calgary Board is updating their data feed to the Matrix system. Our team has worked extensively to ensure the appropriate updates are made to our data feed in order to comply with the new data system.

Tonight, Redman will “flip the switch” from the old Calgary Board feed to the new Matrix feed. As a result, for those of you in the Calgary Board, here are a few things you should know about the data switch-over and how it may affect your website.

Listing Update Delay

In order to make the switch-over go smoothly, we have temporarily paused the 1 hour listing updates on your website, so for about 12 hours your site’s listings may not update every hour as per usual. Normal 1 hour updates should resume by tomorrow afternoon. Your website will remain up and running, and visitors will still be able to search listings, but it may take several hours for your site to display new listings added to the MLS during the day tomorrow.

Normal updates and syncing will resume as of Wednesday morning.

Temporary Disabled Features

In order to ensure everything is working properly once the new feed is turned on, we are disabling certain features related to listings for the feed switch, then will be turning them back on one-by-one to ensure everything is working correctly with the new feed. This means you may experience up to a 1 day (24 hour) delay for the following Redman Services/Features:

  • Automatic Facebook listing posting to pages/profiles
  • New listing email notifications
  • Automatically generated listing videos

These features should all be working again as expected on Wednesday morning.

Saved Searches

Because the Calgary Board has changed their data provider, this means that some of the data itself has changed. We have tried to account for as many of these changes as possible, but in some cases you may find your saved searches aren’t working quite right or are missing certain listings.

As an example, for rural listings, the Calgary Board Matrix feed no longer includes lot size in acres (lot size is only available in square feet). So if you had certain saved searches that narrow results by acres, you will find these searches no longer work as expected.

If you aren’t sure how to update affected saved searches and need a hand, the Redman Support team would be happy to assist you. The best way to get assistance with updating your saved searches is to email my@redmantech.com with a link to the search you are having problems with and one or two example MLS numbers that should be appearing in the search but aren’t. By providing us with this information right away, we’ll be able to help you more quickly.

Reporting Bugs

Our team has worked hard to make the Calgary Board data switch-over go as smoothly as possible, but there may be a few additional unforeseen bugs that crop up in the Calgary Board over the next week. We ask our Calgary clients to assist by reporting these odd behaviors when they come up so we can resolve them as quickly as possible.

If you experience odd behavior on your website outside those mentioned above, please send an email to my@redmantech.com and let us know what problem you are having so we can look into it as soon as possible.
