As people who make our lives your success, we’ve learned that many of the principles we know today are similar to principals penned in the past. Your success is how we gauge ours!

So we put on our lab coats, started researching successful REALTORS® and business leaders alike, and we came up with our own results. We’ve included quotes from some of the classic works done on the subject, as well as some highly successful people (just for good measure).

1. Highly Successful REALTORS® Get in Front—of Whoever They Need to Talk To.

It isn’t always easy to be proactive. For introverts, it can be downright terrifying. But it’s an important skill to develop simply because the deliverer of a message is the object in control of the message. Whether it’s good or bad news, you retain more by calling your customers and prospects. Don’t wait for them to call you.

2. Highly Successful REALTORS® Know that First Things are First in Line.

How often through the course of the day do you get mired in minutiae? Email, messages, Facebook messages from relatives, phone calls, ‘quick chats’ with colleagues… the list goes on and on. It’s best to leave yourself uninterrupted time to tackle those highest priority tasks. You’ll be surprised how much more productive you become and how far ahead you find yourself in a few months.

3. Highly Successful REALTORS® Find the Win/win in Every Solution.

The Real Estate business is the most people driven business in any industry. Taking the time and creative space to find those true win/win scenarios for your vendors and clients will set you apart very quickly. This is one of the tenets of abundant thinking, the idea that by leveraging yourself for everyone at all times, you help to raise the world —one step at a time.

But most importantly, finding the win/win is the critical way that the most successful REALTORS® succeed in negotiating through their deals—and ultimately closing those deals.

4. Highly Successful REALTORS® Keep their Tools Sharp.

Keeping your tools sharp has several connotations. On the professional side, it’s understanding what you need to move ahead and maintaining those tools as you go. Your operations, your management workflow, your marketing—all of these elements require focus not only to perform but to perfect. Seeing opportunities for improvement is also important. 5. Highly Successful REALTORS® Know the First Act in Communicating is Listening.

Whenever I think of this, I think about young people who have just scrounged together their first down payment, and they put their trust in a REALTOR® who sits with them and walks through every fear, every detail. They call at odd times of the day asking incessant questions. But the REALTOR® just listens and then answers. Tackling people’s fears takes an open heart and open mind, and the most successful real estate agents out there know this.

6. Highly Effective REALTORS® Stay Ready.

They say “luck is opportunity and preparation.” You can make fast progress by first being ready for it. Whether its business planning, pricing or even attire, preparation is the foundation for success. So often successful people say, “Oh, it was that one time that really stepped things up for my business,” not realizing that the previous years of prep and readiness allowed them to move on the opportunity. Don’t miss out.

7. Highly Effective REALTORS® Start with the End in Mind.

This theme is one that works on any level. Whether it’s a short task, an all-day activity or your entire business, starting with the end in mind is key to success. It will prepare you for growth and it will help to keep you flexible at times when things force your direction. It can be simple, but destination planning is essential. You don’t even have to map out the route, just define the end goal. Remember:
